MagicTwanger, they are prairie dogs in the pic. And capybaras weighing in at up to 175 pounds is more like a large size dog.

Here in Colombia they are endangered because of dry seasons worsened by minery and because peolple eat them in certain regions of the country, their meat is very tasty and tender. Now, to prevent that, they are being reproduced in captivity, like having a hatchery for human consumption. Kind of sad. We call them "chigüiros".

Good thing they were found. Since they are Tropical/ sub-tropical I can’t imagine that they would have fared well in the Toronto winter weather.
