People, read "A History of the World in 6 Glasses" by Tom Standage. The six are: beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, Coca-Cola. By far the one with the most consequence is coffee. To quote: "...coffeehouses provided an entirely new environment for social, intellectual, commercial, and political exchange." For the first time in history, deep thinkers exchanged ideas endlessly over a cup of Java.

coffee was said to be evil until a pope blessed it after tasting it - coffee houses sometimes had a bad reputation as intellectuals are scary to the establishment.

If the coffee bean is just the seed of the cherry I wonder what they do with the fleshy part of the cherry? I hope they don't just waste it! And what does the fleshy part of the cherry taste like?

SOS, Coffee cherries are fruits, and yes, you can eat them. They even have a nice sweet flavor. But before you rush out to try them, there are good reasons these are not a popular fruit. Unlike regular cherries and other fruits, coffee cherries have not been grown to optimize the fruit flavor. They have very little flesh and tough, leathery skins. These cherries are primarily seed and very little tasty fruit.
