How many species of squirrels are there in the world?

Fast forward about 8-9 years, one day my mom was on the front porch watering her plants and feeding our parrot, a squirrel jumped onto the porch rail and scampered up my mom's arm and sat upon her shoulder, it must've been quite tame as it stayed there, she came into the house and we all became rather enamored with it and it stayed with us for a while, was very affectionate, enjoyed being petted and loved on but it had an awful vice of eating smoked cigarette butts, at one point my sister kept it in her room and didn't let it out for a few days and the lil' fella got highly agitated and attacked her, at that point she finally let it out and it immediately ran and grabbed cigarette butts from an ashtray and as soon as the feont door was opened it took off. It only came back once after that, again running up mom's arm, sat on her shoulder for a minute and kinda nuzzled her neck then scampered away again.

That's the cutest squirrel I ever saw.

We are on the 2nd floor and have a big back porch where we store lots of stuff. I found a whole unshelled peanut lying in an outdoor vacuum that we don’t use often. The next day a squirrel ran up a tree onto our porch and rescued the peanut!😋

not to. mention if they get under the hood of your car/truck,they chew up your wiring to make nest materials...

they use the filter part of the cigarettes to put in their nests

that's why its important not to feed wild animals even the squirrels.

ITS HARD TO THI K OF THESE CUTE CRITTERS AS RODENTS . WE HAVE AT LEAST 2 OR MORE HERE AND DEER. I HAVENT SEEN DEER YET BUT MY DAUGHTER DID AND TOOK A PHOTO OF IT.WE LIVE IN BACK OF A PARK

we only have 2 species in UK and one is scarce and endangered which is the Red our native species

constantgamer0421, There was a squirrel in Tavistock Park near where I worked in London who I named Floyd. He would greet me each lunchtime and eat nuts from my hand. One day as I entered the park he raced down a tree and across to me, raced up my body, down my arm, stole the crisps from my fingers and was off! I do miss that cheeky fella!
