I was blessed to have seen it twice on camping trips with the folks. The parents were very outdoorsy people and thought I should occasionally miss school to be immersed in outdoor sciences.

Aahma, what you are speaking of (where they would build a fire & shovel it off the mountain top, I also was thrilled to witness in my childhood); however what they speak of here is a natural phenomenon, that only occurs when specifically events of nature & the "heavens" come together simultaneously! Yosemite is my favorite place, has become a bit too commercial, but none the less it's my "2nd home". God's magnificence on display!

the firefalls ended in 1968. I was able to see this amazing site on my last visit to Yosemite.
