In which century was the Terracotta Army discovered?

We visited the terracotta army back in the 1990's, it was incredible to actually see it in real life. one of the farmers that found it originally was employed to sit and sign books! There was a lot of work still going on, mostly workers were using artist paint brushes so very labour intensive.
