In the United States, which year did motorists first enjoy a movie at an outdoor, drive-in theater?

UnopposedYogi27101, at one time any major movie could be shown after an initial theater going for just a small amount of money in your car. but then they started showing mostly x-rated movies at screens which were not facing highways which they had never wanted to do anyway because it distracted the customers or drivers. so that was the end of the drive-in. it was so sad

I grew up in Camden County and enjoyed many drive-in movie dates with my future husband. We have now been married for 53 years.
