Your grandfather probably fought bravely as a soldier . The average German ( Deutsch) did not cause trouble for the World . It was a small number of evil people who believed their own propaganda.
I do not believe those of today should have to apologise for their forebears,
be it for Nazism , slavery, religion or Empire.
We should just live our lives to avoid repeating deeds or attitudes from outdated beliefs

NomadicHotshot410, sadly the Lost was so great and you know humans group people into one area and stay with it I personally have German in my ancestry and I'm not proud of it at all I found my dealings with people from there they're very high brow and give one a feeling of insecurity not myself but I've seen it I know who and where I'm from I'm glad that you all are good Germans and that you're a good family

Clothilde, The US never used the name California unlike Great Britain that used to go by the name of “The kingdom of England” or just England. When the US fought the United Kingdom it was just England and did not include Scotland.
