this is a mis-leading question... Hitler repudiated the treaty of Versailles... so they didn't pay during his time in power...it was reinstated at the end of WWII with added reparations for the war.... Patton said it would lead to another war... guess he was wrong on that..but he sure was right on the Russians.

I got told different from a woman. That came from West Germany in the 1970s. Her brother who still lives there. Said that it's from WW II.
