WalksBySelf, yes, for clarity a shilling was the equivalent of 5p when decimalisation happened in the UK, so six shillings = 30p. But the buying power of 30p in the days of the Tolpuddle Martyrs was much higher than today of course. So slightly misleading to say 6 shillings is the equivalent of 30p today.
