It's been suggested that she bathed in the blood of virgins, because she believed that it would keep her young. Also, being bricked up was a common sentence for royalty or noblemen/women who committed crimes considered to be extremely horrific. The place they were bricked into is called an Oubliette, meaning '(little) place of forgetting', as the criminal was often entirely bricked in, and died of dehydration or starvation. in many countries, an Oubliette would have been in the wall of the dining or kitchen chambers as an extra torture. (Finally, a question I know something about! From a paper I wrote, not because I'm a fan!) Hope someone else finds this as interesting as I do.

It is so sad that nothing was done until she started targeting young noblewomen! SERIOUSLY?! I know it was the attitude of the times but really…where was their humanity?!

Konga Kat (K.M.Beck), she apparently bathed in their blood because she thought it would keep her (and her skin) eternally youthful.

FLGAL, she was an aristocrat and she was targeting "mere" peasants, so nobody "important". Kind of the way a lot of modern serial killers get away with it longer by "just" going after sex workers.

I’d say based on how history has treated women, there is a high probability that she was framed for land, possessions and even titles. But there’s always an exception but if you were betting what would you place the bet on considering the odds?

She was also an inspiration for one quest in Diablo II - Act I, The Forgotten Tower. "I przyszedl czas, ze żywcem pogrzebana zostala Hrabina, ktora niedgys kąpała sie w odmladzajacej krwi setek dziewic, a jej zamek, ktory byl swiadkiem wielu strasznych czynow szybko obrocil sie w ruine". I always liked description of this quest, unfortunetely I memorized it only in polish :)
