My penpal from nearby Zlatoust in Russia was in class that day, happened to look out the window, and saw the whole thing. It just looked like a very bright light, she said, no one had a clue it was a meteor until later.

Montana Lady, I agree on watching the YouTube videos. They give you some amazing footage from cams that show the shadow of it as it creeps along, others show how bright it becomes in the sky, and others show the damage done just from the Shockwave alone. Can't imagine what the dinosaurs thought before the one hit in the Yucatan Peninsula but way smaller it does give you a glimpse of an event that hopefully we never have to see in the next 100 years.

Montana Lady, I watched. Amazing. A lot of people needed emergency help to stay warm that night because a million square feet of glass was broken. The meteor was estimated at 7,700 pounds. An asteroid passed by the Earth just 17,000 miles away just the week before but that one was being tracked.
