Now here is a very interesting factoid about Tomato Ketchup. Although, the actual first recipe for tomato ketchup didn't appear worldwide until in the early 1800s of the 19th Century, it was originally made from mushrooms and even the word itself is actually a Chinese word meaning "fish sauce" that was originally served and consumed with fish. However, since the British usually made their ketchups with mushrooms, it was originally a seafarer that came up with the first known recipe for tomato ketchup by the 1800s that was, before it was later served with meats and fried potatoes, first patented as a medicine and even as a cure for toothaches before the first Heinz flavored tomato ketchups had appeared in 1869 onwards.
