I find lake Taal fascinating. 100 years ago it was connected to the sea and salt water. I volcano closed the connection to the sea and it has become fresh water. A sardine, tawilis, adapted to live in freshwater and is the only freshwater sardine in the world. It is being overfished and is susceptible, ie not yet engandered. It is protected by law now.
