dan34, Hello. There is no Avon. It's a river. But most towns that lie on the banks are called 'name of town' on Avon. e.g Stratford upon Avon. and many others. Hope it's usefull

Shakespeare wrote timeless works that stand the test of time and the stories he tells interested both King n Peasant so much so that I am glad I was introduced to him early in my school life

English being one of the poorest languages in the world, I see it improbable that he is the greatest poet ever. The most famous perhaps, the main reason possibly being that english is the most universal language. There are spanish, french, italian and arabic poets (to mention some) whose works are retorically much richer than Shakespeare's

Edward de Verre, the 17th Earl of Oxford is the man who wrote under the pseudonym William Shakespeare. Hard to believe at first, but if you research his story, it becomes undeniable. Most literary historians have grudgingly accepted this fact.

In 2012, I visited UK and visiting Stratford upon Avon was a fulfilled bucket- list. Yay! to the English for producing such a creative genius in the literary world. My favorite is Merchant of Venice because of the heroin Portia..what an empowered woman!

A Poet of a great value, since many of his single art piece were considered Masterpieces, in comparison to most poets who had most of time only one Maaterpiece of their entire works, indeed Bard of Avon

There's a fascinating documentary out there called THE SHAKESPEARE ENIGMA. It examines Shakespeare's time and the possibility of other authors creating his work. It's a good watch.
