Player #7719043, Light is made up of photons. When a lamp is turned on in a room these photons bounce around the room and illuminate it with reflected light and some of the photons are absorbed into the walls and furniture. When the lamp is turned off the source of sparkling photons eminating from the light bulb is stopped and photons that were bouncing around the room reflecting light are no longer replaced by the photons coming from the lit lamp. Eventually, the remaining photons that were bouncing around the room are absorbed and the room goes dark. Considering how fast the photons can traverse the room and how few bounces it takes to absorb light this loss of light is functionally instaneous. I hope that explains it for you.
