All they'd get on the wire was the outcome of the at bat ("Ruth 1-2 D 1 rbi") While waiting for the next at bat, Reagan would recreate a dramatization--everything from wind-ups to brush backs to arguments with ump were completely made up. He'd get the count to whatever was indicated, then, "Ruth rips that one right up the middle! He's rounding for second where he'll hold up, and DiMaggio will score! Not a good start for our Sox!"
