Shouldn't the writing under the question be about the correct answer? i. e. the Codex Leicester?

Jwolf2474, his notebooks are published, with or without images. They are a tedious read, but he got a lot right, things we still call scientificly accurate today.

Seems wrong for one man to own something so precious. Should be in a museum and available to scholars.

So it was written by daVinci? It doesn’t surprise me that it was gobbled up for such a paltry sum by a billionaire….I’m not going to go down the road of world poverty but….really!

Janet, nowhere in the answer does it mention the name of the notebook. Indeed, the answer includes the word 'probably' in such a way as to suggest that the writer is not entirely sure if/when/who purchased a notebook that may or may not have been the one in the question. Since the answer is poorly written, grammar-wise, it is unclear whether the explanation is in any way connected to the question.

Anniedav, but "annie", it would only get "locked away" under "unbreakable glass", to keep it away from being touched/viewed & the capability of its contents REALLY being appreciated... sure people would come to see it & increase the revenue of where it was being housed...but it was important enough to Mr. Gates to outbid others & not very appreciated by "someone" (in the real sense) or it never would have been up for auction.

Player #118357, it is! The name of the notebook doesn't sound Italian, which threw me when I first learned about it. But the Codex Leicester is indeed the DaVinci notebook in question. (Also, you may totally not see this, since your comment is from 2018 but for some reason is at the top of the comments list I see. Ah well.)

A book this important should not be locked away in someone’s private collection. Has Gates donated it to a museum or for research? If not, he should
