I worked for the US Forest Service one summer, clearing trails and fixing hiking trails. This is located close to Bishop California. It’s called the Bristlecone National Forest . Extreme Weather there, very hot in summer time and snow in the winter.

I knew this answer because we were there in August. The bristle cone forest is extraordinary. The film is worth watching at the visitors center. Great information, and a chance to see what makes these trees so amazing.

brown sugar, the trees are open to the public, in the White Mts outside Bishop. I have been there and the trees are amazing. 11 thousand feet high in elevation.
