...back in the days when corruption was not only exposed, but actions were taken to deal with the perpetrators. Now... corruption is flaunted, and praised. Our Government no longer belongs to the people. Voting on a federal level, a joke... on us all.

I once had a teacher defend the fact that Nixon and his cronies weren't more severely punished because we were in a Cold War at the time and a public trial/punishment would have been bad for our image. However, that was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. A better message would have been to show the world that our country delivered on its promise that no one is above the law, and those who defile our democratic process would be made to account for their actions.

Just figured out why some people answer so wrong sometimes, it helps to take the time to read a question thoroughly so you don't blow through it as I just did. Didn't even see the word VICE until it was too late...😂

Too bad we don't prosecute politicians for accepting bribes these days. Washington D.C. would be desserted and maybe we could get some people into office that really are "for the people", not the corporations.

GolfnBill, it was a much different time back then. All people need to do now is say, “I’m sorry” and they’re forgiven.

Back in those days, journalists and the press did a far better job of reporting the NEWS. Journalistic integrity actually meant something. In these times, the media seems to be beholden to corporate interests and politicians preventing fair and unbiased reporting.

Player #5602826, I was in the Navy at the time. Carter was president and we hardly went anywhere. I was in 3.6 years and we went to the Med once, Cuba once, the Virgin Islands twice and Puerto Rico once. The rest of the time we spent next to the dock in Charlestown, South Carolina.

Player nawa, Unfortunately I don’t believe that person can exist in the political system when coaching to lie to Peter to get Paul’s vote is started at the city council level. At least that’s how they started to groom my sister. We were happy she lost. She didn’t want to be that person and was sickened that people she had admired would expect her to do something so against her nature. But that’s politics for you.

Rachel Maddow wrote a really good book about this, called "The Bag Man." One of the reasons she's been missing from her show lately is because they're making a movie based on her book.
