What is another name for the grey wolf?

i love wolves for their beauty and intelligence. i also am amazed that all the different types of dog breeds that we have today come f rom wolves. when i look at my mini Dachshund and my Jack Russell terrier and my Catahoula, its hard to imagine that they evolved from wolves. very interesting and amazing to me.

These amazing creatures have been almost eradicated due to irrational fear by humans. They are once again being persecuted via helicopter hunting. Humans are the most despicable creatures on earth.

Many years ago my sister had a German Shepherd/Timber Wolf...you'll never find a more loyal and loving companion...he was protective, but smart enough to intimidate instead of attack...nobody messed with those of us who he loved...he was a gentle soul and I really miss him

The reintroduction of the wolves to Yellowstone was so much more than a return of the wolves. They are, in fact, the keystone species there and balanced out the entire failing ecosystem upon their reintroduction. It's a powerful story worth your time to go read about!

Wolves are awesome creatures & one of my favorites. Loved them as long as I can remember. I hate the impact mankind has had on them and all other species within the animal kingdom.

Dances with Wolves is one of my favourite films. I feel sad with the ever increasing impact man is having on the natural world

I had a small female in Ill once for 7 years

I had a wolf/malamute mix got her when I lived in Maine n moved around to a few states n if just say she was a malamute sometimes depending on what state I was in at the time lol but just amazing animals very protective of me but one of the sweetest animals I've ever had had her for 15 years n then she passed devastated me so incredibly smart to I've heard some horror stories about people owning hybrids but I honestly think alot has to do with how you are with them and how you take care of them if u put them in a small space or cage simply because of the mix your asking for trouble and that goes with any animal and when people try and blame it on the animal is like now that's not right you treat them like they belong locked up any animal or person will eventually turn on you but if you treat them with love can't stand people who want certain animal just to have them like big cats n then keep them in tiny cages expecting them to just get used to it or something it's selfish and makes me furious

Player #3153939, A similar theme can be found in werewolf stories. I like the romance kind and the way the alpha or leader of the pack is so fierce to protect his mate. Sadly, human greed and fear is to blame for the decline in many species, not just the timber wolf.

I have to say, I'm so happy wolves are starting to reappear here in Belgium where I live. Seems like nature is slowly healing. On the negative side, we get to see the negative reactions all over again from farmers and people who know nothing about wolves. Sad that even in our modern age, where correct information is freely available, some people still think wolves are dangerous creatures..
