I like the question , and the comments.. technology has changed music ove the years. But the good thing is the music remains… the voices and the groups will never die that’s why so many movies are made bringing back the great music for next generations.,

And the advent of Led Zeppelin led to the ultimate demise of the 45, as it is not superior in any way. Zeppelin was the first major artist to focus on AOR, album-oriented rock. Songs were arranged on the LP in a quest for best playing order, and many of the best songs to start coming out were far too long for a 45. While 45s wrre still sold, it eventually became "all about the LP." When CDs came out, they were also focused on the album. I do have two CD singles in my collection, "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand." But they wr re special releases, and singles died bevause at first you had to buy an adapter, much like 45s required for a turntable, but it fit around the outside of the CD single. Later all size discs would work in a player, but by then the CD single was long gone.
