great book. Peter Benchly felt so bad about the carnage the movie caused on sharks that he became a tireless advocate for their protection.

penawareof, I remember seeing this movie. It was a time when we saw movies on a big big screen. My mom had read the book and we went to see the movie. We thought we would be cool, collected. When we first saw that shark! The popcorn went 50 seats away.

I was invited to Peter Benchley's house for dinner and a movie a few years after 'Jaws' came out--Benchley had a lot of film reels, and rolled out a projector, threaded it, and played the film 'The Ladykillers.' It was a fun night.
