Who was the first unseeded male tennis player to win the Wimbledon singles title?
Correct answer: Boris Becker
Montana Lady
SneakyMole92698., seeding is how players are ranked so the top rated players won't play against each other until the end of a tournament... so the best players don't knock one another out in the first round.
An unseeded player was good enough to get into the tournament but didn't rank highly enough to be seeded. I "think" they play against the other unseeded players first, before getting paired against the seeded players, but I'm not positive on that last bit.

TRUE CANADIAN Laurel, He had a suspended 2 year prison sentence for tax evasion. He was also bankrupt at the time. I think he won Wimbledon when he was only 16.

Montana Lady, Thank you for that info, I didn't know and you saved me some time looking it up!

SneakyMole92698., Probably unbeaten.
SneakyMole92698., his world ranking was nowhere near what it needed to be. Basically, he surpassed expectations and won.
