What is the medical term for inflammation of the joints?

I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at age 9. It seems medical science is improving to recognize autoimmune disorders. I hear from more people with whom I interact, from cashiers to friends of friends, about their diagnoses more often than years ago.

Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursar sac located in the joints. Arthritis is caused by bone rubbing on bone.

I suffered for decades with extreme pain in atypical places that didn't fit any doctor's scenario.
