Sorry but Wellington was Irish and was despised by some members of parliament because of this Arthur Wellesley( Iron Duke, Wellington) he was given command of regiments in India, he later beat the French in Europe.. Through Flanders, Portugal and Spain ( so the song goes!) and he was also a Prime Minister known as Nosey due to his big nose!
