This is a derogatory term the music industry gives to a (usually) substandard track on an LP/CD by a less prominent member ( often usually non -singing) of a well-known group. The implication is that they are allowing it as a sop to them. The original "Ringo" was thought to be 'Octopuses Garden" - a nonsense song well-below Beatles Standard featuring Starr's honking voice.
