Which horse is the only three time winner of the Grand National, at Aintree in England?
Correct answer: Red Rum

Castra, If so, they wouldn't race so well, and would be found other 'employment' - hacking, dressage, show jumping, etc. Horses are prey animals, who when wild live in herds, and run together when in perceived danger. So it is there in their basic nature. If they were not comfortable they wouldn't do it. Like humans they have their own talents and personalities,, and these have been bred to race.

MoodyChef92025, Continued)... In the UK, horses with a talent and inclination to race have been bred together for centuries to produce horses like Red Rum. And they have lives of ease and comfort when they pass their prime. "Rummy" had a long life, with loving people. When he died he was buried at Aintree, just past the winning post. Therefore , every horse that has run there since is running to try to catch up with Rummy - but they never will.

MoodyChef92025, How on earth can you presume to say that from just one photo? They are more comfortable running together than living alone, confined in a field with small children wobbling on their backs. They are large intelligent aniimals who can refuse. Not worth trying to force them.
