Which artist lived his entire life in the Dutch city of Delft?
Correct answer: Johannes Vermeer
MDinMD
The Milkmaid is my favorite painting by Vermeer. I saw it in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and it is just remarkable - the way he captures the light streaming in through the window is amazing. The detail, tonality and color palette makes the painting so vibrant, despite an otherwise mundane subject. True genius. The Girl with the Pearl Earring, The Girl with the Red Hat, The Astronomer and The Geographer are some of his other well known masterpieces.

Didn't know Vermeer until I was 19 travelling through the Netherlands with a buddy who's into art. My main goal was to go to the Van Gogh Museum, but it was at the Rijksmuseum was where I got to know Vermeer.

We just saw Vermeer’s work which was on loan to the Frick Art Museum in Pittsburgh. Such a privilege to be in the presence of such great works of art.
Player Say what!?
MDinMD, I didn't think I was into art but went to the Rijksmuseum as a ticket was purchased for me. I was blown away and now have a greater appreciation for such beauty!
