What causes grey hair as people age?
Correct answer: Loss of melanin

I finally decided to stop coloring my hair about 15 months ago. I was ‘of a certain age’ and decided it was time. I was definitely old enough to be a grandmother but had no grandchildren. But, I decided it was time to look the part. To my utter surprise and delight, my hair was the most beautiful shade of silver I’ve ever seen. Much like tinsel on the Christmas tree. I loved it! Just about everyone I’ve ever known seemed to have graying hair that started out with that lackluster iron gray color and mine started out as beautiful silver. I guess that was a gift to me. And, not long after I stopped coloring my hair, my daughter informed me she was having a baby. I now have a beautiful lovely baby granddaughter. So, despite the chatter about how awful it is to grow old, my life has changed for the better. I let go of that nonsense and now everything is ‘golden’!

Miss Sue, I turned prematurely white in my 30’s…salt & pepper in my 40’s ( women asked me where I got my hair done) then I started dying my hair in my 50-60’s. Then when I turned 70 I thought “ that’s it, no more” so I let my hair grow out… it’s a beautiful white n my friends want hair like mine…it’s long n beautiful n I’m happy to be me! Thank you God for blessing me.

Miss Sue
I just want my hair to turn completely white.

After I stopped tinting my hair, people frequently asked if I dyed my hair! My natural color is close to the silver-lavender color that was trending.

All my adult life I've had brown and poker straight hair, developed some rather spiffy looking white streaks in my late forties. Then, at the age of 61, two years ago I got cancer. Successful surgery and chemotherapy, which made all my hair fall out. Bizarrely, it grew back in curly and almost black. 🤔

Wow! Everyone loves talking about their hair!

I'm 75 and no gray hairs. My Mother passed at the age of 94 and wasn't completely gray. But all 5 of my siblings have all been silvers since early to mid 60s. Maybe genetics have something to do with timing.

Why do grey hairs have a mind of their own, though? I've had mine since about 15 and they are have more coils than the dark ones 🤔

Miss Sue,
It's strange that people have different shades of grey, mine is silver and I quite like it.
I do have a bit of fun with my hair though.
I have it magenta on top and indigo underneath.
I do have some of my natural colour ( or lack of colour 🤣) still visible.
