The way they knew it was going to be Midway is they (the US) sent out a false message that the Salt water converter on Midway had broken. Then intercepted a message that the code given to Midway (I think AG) was low on fresh water

There's a picture from the Harvard Club of Tokyo in 1930 or so. A significant number of Japanese military heavy-hitters are in the photo, including Admiral Yamamoto, in command at Midway. For obvious reasons, Harvard doesn't like this photo to be published.
