driving a tractor trailer over the tunnel is unnerving also, there are wind restrictions if not headed can blow a rig over into the water.

It's built close enough to the water that on windy days with rough seas, the salty spray hits your car when crossing it.

Vel, Newport News to Va. Beach does not go near nor over the CBBT. Maybe you are confused with the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel- 20 yrs eh?

We lived in Newport News VA for nearly 20 years. My husband drove to work in Virginia Beach every day through the tunnel. It is just something you get accustomed to doing. Love the area and wish we were still there.

Loved, loved, loved driving the bridge tunnel. Incredible engineering feat. On my bucket list since it opened, finally checked it off.

I used to enjoy eating at the restaurant that was on the bridge. Sadly, they closed it a couple years ago
