I have studied Mudd's story in some detail. He likely knew Booth, but it is questionable whether he knew that Booth shot Lincoln.

The movie "National Treasure " with Nicolas Cage was very informative about all things US government and so called "secrets " involving the government. I learned a lot about "his name is Mudd" from the movie. Along with so much more. If you dig into some of the treasures from the movie, you will find that they stayed pretty close to the truth. Who says you watch too much tv and your brain turns to mush? lol

Breckinridge76, when it has been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that a person is guilty of murder then I believe that person should get the death penalty. May God forgive them but I find it difficult.

missy189, While serving his time in prison, I believe in Dry Tortugas, He SAVED hundreds of men from dying. So, he EARNED his pardon. Also, When you take the Hippocratic Oath, you must help everyone in need, regardless.

When we visited Fort Jefferson which is a few hours boat trip from Key West, I believe I saw info that Mudd had been imprisoned there for a time. Ruins of the fort remain but no fresh water there.😎
