Football was invented in England and is called so,soccer is an American term

Football ... not soccer! Is clearly the most popular sport worldwide - and great that these days Womens teams are also strong, popular and well supported!

Player #55741825, The term Soccer was't created in the US. It was a contraction of the words "Association Football" which is what the game was sometimes called in the UK, as it was governed by the "Football Association". Later it served to distinguish it there from other forms e.g. Rugby Football, Five-a- Side, Australian Rules etc But it is an English term, though not generally used. Obviously It was adopted much later for the game in the US because they already had a very different game called Football. In the UK, Women's football has suddenly become very popular. Is there a women's version of US football?

FOOTBALL. A game, which by definition, is played with the feet. Avoid all other Mickey -Mouse games which misuse the name, especially those played with oval objects.

Player #55741825, Americans call their game football but they hardly ever kick it, and it is too hard for them to work out the difference between the two sports.
