Monestaries are the origins of a lot of popular things; beer, espresso, and pretzels.

There are fourteen. One of them is Westvleteren, which produces one of the best-rated beers in the world. Apart from a short period when they were funding roof repairs, they only sell limited quantities at reasonable prices from the monastery itself, and not through normal shops at all. Their beers are commonly resold for three figure sums a bottle, though they ask people not to do this.

Spent some time in Europe back in the day...best beer anywhere is that brewed in monasteries.
