One of the greatest movies ever! The acting was superb. Anthony Perkins was perfect as Norman.

This is my #1 favorite movie of all time. Filming in black and white added to the atmosphere. Hitchcock was also able to use chocolate syrup for blood. Best musical score ever!

if anyone wants to see a good scary picture Alfred Hitchcock made the cycle and it was a scary black and white picture

penawareof, apparently he also made Janet Leigh shower in freezing cold water to add to the horribleness of it all.

I can't remember how old I was when I first saw it, but it was the final scene in the police station that gave me the heebie jeebies.

But the blood running down the shower drain was red...made it that much more chilling.

Gonzo, Funny you should mention the police station scene, Gonzo. My understanding is that the scene was added to allow audiences to settle down a bit after the earlier suspense throughout the movie. Hitch couldn't help himself and superimposed the skull over Norman's face just to keep people riveted and to look for it at the end. Brilliant director.....

Player #27355, and isn't it amazing that in the shower scene you never saw the knife touch the woman's body? it was all Hitchcock's filming that made it so scary!

I also dont shower if I'm home alone. The Birds still has me ducking even one bird flying. Hitchcock was a supreme storyteller on film.
I'm 73 however still remember the effects of those 2 films more than any other. Charade and Beaches come in tied at #3.

As the song goes "When I'm in the shower, I'm afraid to wash my hair. I might open my eyes and find someone standing there".... Think of that when you're alone. Try NOT to get soap in your eye....

Player #3772077, He used chocolate syrup because it contrasted better in Black and White, than anything red. Blood in water, is pink. Very hard to see in shades of grey.
