Which fast-food item is known for its "special sauce"?

When I was a kid growing up in the 70s, my dad who ran a local meat market brought home a hefty bag full of Big Mac sesame seed buns and threw them in the freezer. We had triple decker peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in our school lunches for a month. We were poor; I suspect it was a dumpster dive.
