Which coffee beverage is traditionally small, strong, and served without milk?

My boss used to make us espressos with his fancy machine in the back kitchen. Ugh! Way too strong for my taste. It would make me shutter and leave an aftertaste that just wouldn’t go away. Just give me my K-cup coffee with half & half any day of the week and I’m one happy coffee bean!
