Correct answer: Benedict Arnold

DredlockBlast7,
Check out the cost the signers of the Declaration of Independence incurred. It is astounding that they went into that war, knowing it would cost them their homes, their fortunes and, very likely, their lives and sacred honor. Most of them lost all but their sacred honor. We honor them still.

[bobbo16], I think a lot of people lost everything, but gladly. They won a country.

Last*in*line, he didn't realize what he did would make him a traitor to this day. I can't believe he did that feeling guilty later dissent count you can't change past events

[bobbo16], but he was American therefore a traitor. it's not about money
BYoung
There’s a monument at Saratoga without a name in his honor. He practically won the battle for the Patriots but his act of treason dictates that we don’t honor his wartime contributions for the US.

Last*in*line, That makes no sense. He never said that. One does not coin a phrase about oneself. His name did become synonymous with "traitor" however.

yeah.. but he made some tasty eggs..

The British never trusted him. While they were grateful for Arnold for switching sides, the ethic at the time was to loathe traitors.

Here's another interesting fact about him. His name is the only name that has been struck through on the list of graduates from West Point Academy.

He was attempting to hand West Point to the British

BYoung, He was going to hand America over to the British. Washington would have hanged him if he hadn't escaped in time. He was exposed by the circumstances, which may have been divine intervention so that he could be exposed. Who knows what he would have become and done if he had gotten his promotion.

[bobbo16], I agree he was robbed of the things he had done during the war on the side of the Americans....General George Washington tried to make it up in his own way, but by that time Arnold was bitter...

Consider this... had the British won the war, he would be considered a hero today. 🤔
