What fruit is traditionally used to make the syrup grenadine?

My son loves grenadine and sprite. used to pretend it was a cocktail when he was young ha ha. still drinks it now. Y.N.W.A.    JFT96

Greadine and 7Up is called a Shirley Temple; added to Coke it's called a Roy Roger or a Darth Vader

GiGi2010, my picture shows a bottle of grenadine syrup, made by the firm Roses who do marmalade and also lime cordial. The only fruit on the label appears to be lemons . Go figure.

I recently made the syrup for a tequila sunrise cake. It would also be terrific on pancakes.

My favourite drink was a Singapore Sling. I also liked Tequila Sunrise, and when I was a kid, I tried Shirley Temple and Roy Roger. All were yummy!

grenadine does have alcohol in it. not much but some.
