When my grandmother was a fairly young woman raising her children, she suffered severely with migraines. She would be bed-ridden for days. The town doctor would come to her house and administer morphine to her to relieve the intense pain. After many times receiving morphine injections you’d think my grandmother would have developed an addiction, but she did not. My feeling is that the town doctor was very knowledgeable about morphine and its effects on people and he administered it carefully and wisely. My grandmother came through those years of debilitating migraines just fine and lived her very best life until she was nearly 97 years old.

My daughter has a spinal disease and has had several operations. If she didn't have morphine I don't think she'd cope. Thank goodness it kills the pain.
