Which superhero wields the hammer "Mjolnir"?

I liked Thor most compared to other heroes. I remember the story of how he becomes Thor which is quite different to movie versions. I remembered he was lame from an accident and found this particular stick and when he struck the ground with it, it changed him into Thor. That’s my not so perfect memory as a boy. !!!
