What is the only active ship in the US Navy to have captured and sunk an enemy vessel?
Correct answer: USS Constitution

Old Ironsides... not literally made of iron but very dense, heavy oak timbers clad with copper sheeting.

Gary
Also known as "Old Ironsides".

My initials are carved on the bottom of the USS Constitution! My father was Park Service employee in Charlestown Navy Yard, and when it was in dry dock for repair many years ago, he (and every other guy, just to make sure this isn't labeled as crime) got to leave a mark.

Player NormChop, the USS Constellation is in Baltimore, not the Constitution. Old Ironsides doesnt leave port often and when it does it doesnt go far. In Navy boot camp they asked us if we wanted to be a part of her crew.

Kim C, it is still on the books as active.

Caopolican, I never knew the whole hymn. Thanks. That's so cool!

Player NormChop
Visited when it was in Baltimore, loved the history!

"These victories provided much *needed* moral", is how that sentence should read. Great information though.
