Which insurance company insured the lives of the Apollo 11 astronauts?
Correct answer: No insurance

MagicalTorpedo4634
Even w/o being "uninsurable" it's an absolute shame & embarrassment that our government was unwilling to GAURANTEE that the families would be provided for. TYPICAL!

RappingBugaboo28648
Not surprised as they do the same for the military... that is not fully cover their needs as they risk their lives.

MagicalTorpedo4634, But since when hasn't the government failed to be less greedy and selfish

Daddio
the government only watches their own back. It was designed that they work regular jobs and keep the country running part time. but hey, they find a way to get rich off anything they can. quite shamefull.

Sounds about right!!!

RappingBugaboo28648, sorry but that is not true you get paid life insurance snd your family gets a pension medical care and paid education benefots

RappingBugaboo28648, as a veteran you are insured for around 6 figures.

Parsley
RappingBugaboo28648, I don't know where you got that info. Every U.S. service member was offered up 250k of insurance when I served.

RappingBugaboo28648, You're obviously not a veteran. I was injured in combat almost 30 yrs ago. If I die tomorrow my wife is well taken care of. I wish people would facts straight before they post

LoverNotAFighter
Beth, you did not read the question correctly. No INSURANCE Company would insure the crew!

Yani
Player #18532741, Insured by who?

Yani
With the Challenger, it was worked out that taxpayer's paid 40 percent and Thiokol paid 60 percent to the families afterward.

RappingBugaboo28648, didn’t know that

they should have a guarantee that if they died a certain amount is given to the family!

LoverNotAFighter
MagicalTorpedo4634, you missed the begin of this question. No insurance company would insure their lives. The government would have provided compensation to families should the mission have had a tragic end. Just like they have families of the crew of 2 space shuttle tragedies.

Beth
This is appalling, as these men were National heros!! And, to not give them a grant or basic $1M coverage is just plain WRONG!
I understand the principle behind not insuring them b/c of the huge risk involved. However, this is the government, they could afford $3M ($1M per household), but they CHOSE not to. Disgraceful. The families SHOULD have had financial coverage in the event of an astronaut dieing while serving the NATION. Truly embarrassing as a country.

808stevan1, That is super offed up!!!
