I believe that Robin Williams made his screen debut on this show, playing the part of an alien called Mork. This happened because the son of one of the show's executives, told his dad that he wanted to see one in the show. A spinoff series called Mork & Mindy was created because of Mork's popularity.

It was a great ABC show, along with Laverne and Shirley, its spin-off.

And Pat Morita went on to be nominated for an Oscar as Mr. Miyagi in"The Karate Kid". I remember the first time I saw Mr. Morita. TV commercial, line in front of bank teller, cut to customer at front doing business, Morita looking over customer's shoulder snooping. Hilarious.

Robin Williams had self-admittedly consumed vast amounts of cocaine during the filming of MORK AND MINDY . Happy days a lot more innocent.

WaldoLydeker, I, at one time, worked for an Answering Service(PBX) called"Studio Phone" that served actors in the Industry. Pat Morita checked his messages one day and said that he was in Japan and I did not belive it was really him cuz he didn't sound asian. I had him on "hold" for about a minute and a half and he was so nice and patient when I gave him his msgs. I felt like a heel since for having him on hold for so long becuz I didn't believe it was him!
