I believe that a woman scientist first described plate tectonics! And, I think that I heard on one of the new Cosmos or the Universe, that life on earth is possible because of the recycling system of our plates. But, don't take my word for it.

Poor question in my opinion. There are many plates of different sizes and many ways you could arbitrarily pick some to be the 'large' ones. For example, the Wikipedia for 'List of Tectonic Plates' has a diagram identifying the 15 major plates, not 7.
