I’m gonna copy Velcro. What a rip off…..

interestingly, you aren't supposed to call it velcro. velcro is the name of a company, the product is "hook and loop fasteners". it's just the company name has become synonymous with the product. like how we say hoover for a vacuum (hoover is also a company name).

RamblingLegend28971, That's what I thought.

Luna Froggatt, I learned on Mysteries at the Museum show that although he invented it and got a patent wasn’t accepted by the fashion designers in its time. Only when Nasa had a need to secure items in space for the astronauts and used it, it finally took off. That’s why I like to watch the show Mysteries at the Museum with Don Wildman who makes it not boring to learn about history. 🥰

3 out of 4 lived too long ago for this marvelous modern invention. So interesting how he came up with the idea.

Luna Froggatt, oh, he did. My former father in law was a design engineer who helped with the development of velcro (inner circle) and his estate is worth $3/4 of a billion. So, yes, very rich.

Tom

Luna Froggatt,
I used to do a lot of sewing. I made a bag for the back of my wheelchair, it either go on the back of my chair or underneath, because there were four straps. I could have it as a shoulder bag. I made wrist braces that were all cotton. These and other things had Velcro on them. My daughter started calling me the Velcro queen.
