Children will expect more of theirselves when positive calculations are given for effect. Thanks for the wonderful information.

education has "dumbed down". I have grandchildren that can't write or read cursive, use a clock with hands, read a rode map, or look a word in a dictionary. I
I believe in the positive Pygmalion effect.

But your grandchildren can probably fix your computer.

My my, there are a lot of mean people out there ready to pounce on any grammer mistake. Things happen, auto correct changes things on me a lot. If I don't reread, there's usually a mistake.

I like the idea but my students have broken this this theory. They simply cannot meet higher expectations resulting in the"dumb down"effect as mentioned by another comment.

If you always see the positive in people, it helps to remove our own judgement and biases as well. I’m a preschool teacher, and I always find out their ‘hero’, and refer to them as that. That’s who they want to be, so I pretend they already are. You’d be surprised by the change it has on them.

Holly Golightly, Can you shift this in your classes?
