Where I'm from in Greece we use lemon instead of red wine vinegar (balsamic) as does every Greek restaurant I ever worked at. I do like it with the vinegar though, it's one of my favourite dressings on a green salad.

I don't understand the point of iceberg lettuce... it's green water. It has no calories, no vitamins, no fiber, no protein, no sugar... people just dump dressing on it and pretend they ate something healthy. I'll do a Greek salad or Tabbouleh... but anything with iceberg lettuce is a joke.

There are several varieties of lettuce & some are better in a salad than others. True, iceberg lettuce is really only good as a "bed" on which to serve the makings of a decent salad. Of course, there are as many possibilities as one's imagination can conjure up.
