He was nicknamed "Satchmo" because that was short for Satchel Mouth, he resembled that when he blew his cheeks out playing trumpet. 😊

My son also played coronet. He was very good. But his main love was art and was a very talented artist.💝 He died at the age of 35. I miss him so much.🎈

The only reason I knew this one was because of the children’s book series; The Magic Tree House. Read them to my kids all the time. They have one solely dedicated to him 💜

cubbie2345, Sorry 😞 for your loss. I myself started playing Trumpet in 3rd grade back in 1957. He was a force to be emulated and admired. I now play Saxophone 🎷 due to the pressure it takes to press mouth piece against teeth to hit those high notes. Sure do miss those 3 valves.

Kate, Beautiful song of his. I was born in 1954 and I like my 60s and 70s. However I am finding out I love music from the 20s and 30s. Music calms the savage beast in me, hahaha!

I saw his statue at the NOLA Airport and that’s when I discovered he was a Louisiana native . Armstrong was one of the best jazz musicians and greatest entertainment personalities the world has ever known. Though he was a universal figure and celebrity, Armstrong was a New Orleans native who took New Orleans-style music from its raw origins and introduced it to the world as a refined art form. “It’s a wonderful world “ is my favorite song .
