Player #25874027, Yes you're right, I have the book. Written by W C Sellar and R J Yeatman. It's a tongue -in-cheek history of England. Comprising "All The Parts You Can Remember, Including 103 Good Things, 5 Bad Kings, and 2 Genuine Dates" A truly funny book and well illustrated by John Reynolds.

Jay, It's such a shame that the castle is in such disrepair. It should have been preserved. I lived in Hastings from 1976 until 1984 and then from 2012 until 2019 I live in Shropshire now and Oswestry's castle is in worse shape than Hasting's.☹️

I can see the remains of the castle from where I live in Hastings . The Battle of Hastings was actually fought about 5 miles north of Hastings at what is now known as Battle .

1066 seems to be the one battle date most easily remembered by British people for some reason!

lostiaz, I knew the answer, and I didn't even take history at school, but I do have a mum who is brilliant at all historical facts, ,(I think), well she'd have been ashamed of me if I'd have got it wrong
